Well tuned skis provide a platform for a skier's performance and confidence, but it can be challenging to maintain sharp skis when the sidewalls are not properly removed, even with good tools and technique. Excess sidewalls can gum-up files and stones, preventing the file or stone from sharpening the stainless steel edge.

Leaning on backgrounds in mechanical engineering and youth ski racing, Riley developed a tool to bring precision, repeatability, and intuition to a challenging and overlooked ski tuning step, and created a dual use tool, where the disassembled sidewall remover becomes a premium stainless steel file guide.
